1. What is your name?
My name is Oluwakemi Ajoke Olurotimi.
2. What are your hobbies?
I don't have any consistent hobbies but I'm now the Miss black US ambassador. I work for Stephenson cancer research center under the Oklahoma tobacco research center as a research technician, I nap for my sanity's sake. I'm a very adventurous person when I want to be so I guess seeking out new things, people, food, and places would be the closest thing to a hobby for me.
3. Why did you want to be an HFU ambassador?
My decision to become an HFU ambassador is a result of my passion for the improvement of health and well-being in Africa specifically mental health. After hitting several roadblocks to creating awareness for the cause, I decided to synergize with HFU.
4. Which of the 2 pillars of HFU are you really passionate about and why?
Whew! This is a really hard one for me. I am very passionate about healthcare in Africa, I'm am also an open advocate of education for the girl child especially in STEM ( Science, technology, engineering, and Mathematics) fields. I have conducted several conferences and partnered up with companies like AT&T in Oklahoma to bring awareness to the need for girls- especially girls of color- to be interested in STEM fields. As a researcher, I believe science is the future and that future is female. Besides, it's so much fun!
The pillars of HFU are both important to me. However, improving education and healthcare improvement in Africa are what drives me.
5. What are some of your plans during your duration of being an HFU ambassador?
As an HFU ambassador, I would advocate for the charity and its causes to other organizations. I look forward to hosting informative seminars and several fundraiser events with the HFU team to create a bigger impact. By the grace of God, I will work towards visiting some HFUC sites in Nigeria and volunteering hands-on. Ultimately, I want to lend my skills set to the charity in whatever way possible.
6. Anything else you want to tell us?
I am Nigerian and Christian. My full name translates to "God takes care of me, the community takes care of me and God is with me." I'm a proud foodie! I have a Master’s in Experimental Psychology. I have a couple of projects coming up which include a blog and so on.
